Compare size with actual weight

Dimensional weight per carton = length × width × height in centimetres ÷ divisor. Compare with actual weight, take the larger value, apply your chosen upward rounding per carton, then multiply by carton count.

60 × 40 × 40 ÷ 5000 = 19.2 kg

At 10 kg actual weight, the example uses 19.2 kg before rounding. With 1 kg rounding and 2 cartons, the estimate is 20 × 2 = 40 kg.

Confirm with your carrier

Is this a freight price?

No. This is a weight estimate, not a price or carrier-specific rule. Minimum charges, dimension rounding, surcharges and contract terms are not included.

What if cartons have different sizes?

Calculate each combination of size and actual weight separately. Carrier-specific aggregation may differ; confirm the final invoice basis.

Worked example

Illustrative inputs and outputs to help you check your own task.

Light cartons charged by volume

Inputs
60 × 40 × 30 cm, actual weight 12 kg per carton, 4 cartons, divisor 5,000 cm³/kg and rounding up to 0.5 kg.
Output
Dimensional weight is 14.4 kg each. Rounded chargeable weight is 14.5 kg each, or 58 kg total.

The selected rounding is applied to each carton before multiplying by the carton count.

Dense cartons charged by actual weight

Inputs
40 × 30 × 20 cm, actual weight 8.2 kg per carton, 3 cartons, divisor 5,000 cm³/kg and rounding up to 1 kg.
Output
Dimensional weight is 4.8 kg each. The higher 8.2 kg actual weight rounds to 9 kg each, or 27 kg total.

These example settings are not a carrier tariff. Use the divisor and rounding in your own freight agreement.
